Ravi Harris & The Prophets
Funky Sitar Man
and a funky sitar man he is!!!
An AMAZING soul/funk album with covers of joints from the Meters, The JB's & James brown!!
if youve never heard a sitar cover of the JB's "Same beat" here's your chance!!
I was under the impression that this was a CD reissue of a RARE gem i didnt know existed...
it definitely sounds like this album was released in the early 70's
(and there are some web pages including amazon that have the original release date in the 1970's)
but again, based on many of the pages i ran into trying to find vinyl of this release..
I Believe it is a part of this new "funk/soul scene" that is creating great "classic soul " style gems..drum breaks & All!!
either way this is a FANTASTIC soul album...
ENJOY!!!

Doesn't your CD have any liner notes...?
According to the liner notes on my LP (as far ar I remember - I'm 800 km away from my record collection right now), the BBE compilers visited Bill Harris around 1996 to obtain a licence for his only 7" he released in the early 1970s. He then supposedly offered them a licence for all of his previously unreleased tracks from that group.
Thanks, this is rare!
thanx, thanx, thanx!!!

Oh my god, there's a great deal of useful material in this post!
